LMFF ‘Windows By Design’

If you’ve happened past our Lt. Collins store this week, you may have wondered what was going on with our window display… “Where are the clothes?” you may have asked… Well, there are still clothes in the shop, but you have to walk in the store to get them. Instead of the usual new season arrangement, we have given up our windows to the reliable hands of the AZB Creative team and their window artist/collaborator, Mark Denver of the Vintage Industrial Fitzroy store on Brunswick St.

We had a chat to Mark about the concept behind the display and discovered that there is much more to it than meets the eye. The window tells the story of Adam and Eve through symbolism, with the Earth and Jesus (a genuine Catholic church piece from Italy) on one side and “Adam” and “Eve” themselves (portrayed by original mid-Century German autopsy models) in front of taxidermed animal parts from the Melbourne Zoo’s own collection.

The Display will only be there for a little while longer so make sure you head down to Lt. Collins St to have a look, it’s definitely an interesting installation that has also proven to be somewhat controversial. There are some more AZB/artist collabs around the city which you can see on the map here. So why not make a day of it?
